Assalamu alaikum members of ICLP,
The Southern Maryland Food Bank is currently in great need of food products for feeding the poor. The poor of our community, whether they are Muslim or not, have a right upon us when it comes to food. Please consider donating some of the items they need. You may drop off the food at the Masjid by the front door in plastic bags or cardboard box. Please verify that any product that you are donating has an expiration date at least 3 weeks away.
Allah says in Surah Al-Baqarah [2:215] “They ask you about giving: say, “The charity you give shall go to the parents, the relatives, the orphans, the poor, and the traveling alien.” Any good you do, God is fully aware thereof.”
Food Items needed:
- Peanut Butter (small jars)
- Jelly
- Canned Vegetables & Fruits
- Mac & Cheese
- Tuna
- Rice
- Instant Potatoes
- Hamburger Helper
- Spaghetti O’s (or similar items)
- Spaghetti noodles
- Spaghetti sauce
- Soups
- Stews
- Cereals (hot and cold)
