Assalamu alaikum and Ramadan Mubarak

The middle east has announced Ramadan start on Sunday, June 29 due to the lack of sighting of the moon on Friday night. ICLP recommends and will be starting Ramadan along with the actual sighting rather than the calculated methods (Ramadan starts Sunday 6/29 – first day of fasting).

The Fiqh Council of North America is starting Ramadan on Saturday, June 28 based on their calculations while ICNA announced weeks ago based on calculations that Ramadan starts on Sunday.

ICLP has always used the calculations as a guide but rely upon the sighting. This Ramadan will be no different.
